Military Planes on Display Sunday at Los Alamitos Army Airfield

Wings Wheels & Rotors is scheduled for Sunday at Los Alamitos Army Airfield.

Planes, cars and military vehicles will be on display for the public Sunday as the annual Wings Wheels & Rotors event kicks off at Los Alamitos Army Airfield.

The free open house event will feature military aircraft, helicopters, cars, war birds and first responder vehicles on display along the military base's flight line.

The days events include flyovers by military aircraft, helicopter rides for purchase, a car show and a host of vendors and musicians.

Free flights in planes will also be provided for kids age 8-17 courtesy of the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles program.

Admission to the event and parking are free with donations accepted. Any proceeds from the event will support morale, welfare and recreation funds for personnel station on the base.

Sunday's event runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Los Alamitos Army Airfield, 11200 Lexington Drive, Los Alamitos. A picture I.D. is required to enter the base.

The event is hosted by the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce along with the California National Guard's Joint Forces Training Base.
