Gum Grove Park
Crestview Ave & Avalon Dr, Seal Beach, CA 90740
Gum Grove Park is Seal Beach's 10-acre nature park, featuring native shrubs and wildlife along with mature EucalyptusMore trees. Gum Grove Park sits between Seal Beach's "The Hill" neighborhood and the Heron Pointe housing development. It overlooks a series of less-than scenic oilrigs, but the spring and summer wildflowers tend to make up for the view. Gum Grove Park offers a winding walking trail abundant with history and wildlife, including birds of prey, rabbits and coyotes. The cultural center features a path with a series of markers that explain the region's history, from the Native American Gabrielino Tongva tribe that lived here roughly 5,000 years ago, to the Spanish and Mexican Ranchos who followed, and ultimately to the Hellman Ranch settlement.
