City Council Meeting, Planning Commission, Kite Festival

Events taking place today and this week in the Seal Beach and Los Alamitos area.

1. The Seal Beach City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m., 211 Eighth St. Read the full agenda here.

2. The planning commission for the city of Los Alamitos will meet today at 7 p.m., 3191 Katella Ave. Read the full agenda here.

3. On Saturday, Oct. 19 Amigos de Bolsa Chica will offer free public tours of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach from 9 to 10:30 a.m.. Meet out on the “walkbridge” and tour the wetlands and along part of the 1 and 1/2 mile loop trail that encircles the Ecological Reserve. Amigos de Bolsa Chica trail parking is accessible from the northbound lane of Pacific Coast Highway, one mile south of Warner Avenue (across from the Bolsa Chica State Beach entrance). 4. On Sunday, Oct. 20 the Japan America Kite Festival will be held at the north side of the Seal Beach from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free festival will include Japanese and international kites of all sizes and colors. Get more details at jas-socal.org/JAKF.

5. Columbus Day will start off with clouds in the morning, but will become mostly sunny. Highs near the coast will be around 71, inland areas will see 80-85.
