We May be the Shy Siblings, But We're Lovebugs

Black Cat Month at the Seal Beach Animal Shelter is Almost Over, but there are still some lucky black cats to take home at a $50 adoption rate.

Editor’s Note:  The Cat of the Week feature is written and submitted by Gail Bowers, a volunteer at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center where the animals are available for adoption. The shelter is at 1700 Adolfo Lopez Drive, Seal Beach, (562) 430-4993.

We are in the home stretch of our February promotion of our beautiful black cats. The adoption fee for the rest of the month will be just $50. All these sweet and sassy cats have been either spayed or neutered and microchipped, treated for fleas and worms and vaccinated. Come meet them, and you are sure to fall in love with at least one of them.

Here are the stories of three of these black beauties:

Hi, my name is Cordelia. I am about 5 years-old and a little on the shy side because my life recently has been very confusing. I had a home, and then I became homeless and was rescued from the street by someone who brought me to SBACC. It seems like a really nice place, and they treat me well, but there are so many cats and dogs here it is just not the same as having my own home. I have a beautiful black coat with a little white blaze on my neck and I love petting and lots of attention. I hope you will pick me as your new best friend.

Hi, I am Fantasy. I was found along with my brother and sister in a box in a Seal Beach gas station when we were all about 8 to 9 weeks-old. We all went to a foster home together and then came back to SBACC when we were ready for adoption. My brother and sister were more outgoing than I am and were adopted already. I am nearly a year old now.  I am a quiet, shy girl but I like attention and enjoy being petted. My foster mom said I was a little lovebug. I like the company of other cats and got along fine with the dogs in my foster home. I really would love my own home and would be happy to share it with other cats and even dogs.

Hi, I am Doonsbury. I arrived at SBACC with my three brothers when we were just kittens. We were all very frightened, but, thanks to the volunteers at the center, I have grown into a playful, energetic young cat. Two of my brothers have been adopted already but my brother Dinky, who is black and white and I are still here at SBACC. I was adopted once but went to a home with no other cats, and I was very frightened and did nothing but hide, so I was brought back to the shelter. I like it here at SBACC because I have lots of feline friends, but I think I would prefer to live in my own home with my brother, Dinky, or with another young cat. Oh, by the way, I am a boy and am about a year-and-a-half-old.
