Today's Picnic at the Plaza is a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the food trucks will be back Friday to help raise more money.

First dreamed up by Los Alamitos Starbucks manager and self- described foodie over good eats, the event has been wildly popular since it first launched in April, said City Councilwoman Marilynn Poe.

In fact, city and community officials are looking to expand the event with vendors and craft booths for kids, Poe said. The picnic was originally intended to be a temporary seasonal event, but Poe said she expects to see it continue for as long as the community wants it.
