Don't Be Fooled by My Gruffness: I am a Pussycat

Cat of the week Sam Noodles will noodle his way into your heart given half a chance.

Editor’s Note:  The Cat of the Week feature is written and submitted by Gail Bowers, a volunteer at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center where the animals are available for adoption. The shelter is at 1700 Adolfo Lopez Drive, Seal Beach, (562) 430-4993.

Our cat of the week is Sam Noodles. He is a 2 1/2 year old big boy, tabby and white. He is telling his own story here.

While my name is Sam Noodles, I love it when my foster mom calls me “Sammy”. I was adopted with my sister as a kitten and, truth be told, I have a bit of a jealous streak. The jealousy I had towards my little sister became too much for my previous owner and she brought me back to the shelter. Wow! That was a scary day! I went from having my own home, to a room full of other cats, and I did not like that at all! I soon found myself separated from the other cats, in a cage and just miserable. It brought out my aggressive streak but lucky for me, one of our volunteers saw my good side and decided to take me home and foster me.

My foster Mom is the best. She has learned quite a bit about me and is helping me to curb my aggressiveness. I am now an affectionate lap-sitting boy, and when I start purring, I sound like a diesel engine. I just love all the space I have in my foster home. A few of my favorite spots are on the couch and on the cat tree in front of the window. My exercise of choice is chasing the little curly pipe cleaners all over the room and playing with the furry bird on the stick.

I do have a few things I dislike. What can I say? I am cat.

I really do not enjoy being picked up, and I get a little grumpy when I am comfy and cozy on a lap and I have to get down before I am ready. I get nervous around excited, energetic behavior and prefer a quiet calm atmosphere. I would prefer to be an only cat so I can get lots of attention, and I do not think I would like a home with young noisy children.

I have lots of love to give and hope you will come see me. I love it here in my foster home, but I know it is not permanent, and I really, really want my own forever home.
