Cool Black Cats Looking for Love

Editor’s Note:  Cat of the Week is written by Gail Bowers, a volunteer at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, which is where the animals in this column are available for adoption. We are featuring our sweet and sassy black cats for the month of February -- and their adoption fee has been reduced to just $50.  All are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and have been treated for fleas and worms. Three of these cats want to tell you their stories:

Target Refugee

Hi, my name is Xenon. I am a teenager, which means I am more than 6 months old but less than a year. I am not sure how we got there, but when I was about 6 weeks old, I found myself behind the Seal Beach Target store along with my brother and sister. Somebody took us to SBACC and we all went into a foster home together until we were old enough to get spayed and neutered. Then we came back to SBACC so we could get adopted. My brother and sister have already found new homes. Now it is my turn. I am full of energy and love to run and jump. It is really fun to land on a pillow like a cannon ball. I enjoy playing with other cats and miss my brother and sister, but a new brother or sister would be just fine. I also love to snooze on a human chest and hang out on laps. If you come to meet me, you are likely to find me irresistible.

Black Velvet

Hi, I am Inari, a beautiful, all-black 2-year-old female with a coat that feels like velvet. I came to SBACC as a kitten with my three litter mates, and I probably would have been adopted right away but one kitten in our room got sick and gave it to everyone else. I’m still so mad at him! I am all better now and ready for you to fall in love with me. I am a sweet, fun and loving future lap cat who gets along great with other felines and would probably like dogs and kids if I knew what they were. My wonderful sister, Infinity, is still here with me – she is white and black, very, very pretty! We would love to be adopted together, but if just one of us gets adopted we will be happy for the other. Sisters always remain together in their hearts even if they are not together in a home.

Goobers and...

Hi, I am Raisinette. I am 3 years old and have a beautiful, shiny black coat and pretty green eyes. I am a sweet treat indeed and I just love laps. I am not too crazy about other cats, so I would prefer to be an only spoiled kitty who gets all the love attention a person has to give. I will love that person right back. Meow!
