Army Ball on Friday Offers a Night of Glamor to Servicemen and Women

The event is open to the public, and donations will be accepted to help sponsor military families.

This Friday is the annual Army Birthday Ball. The ball, which will take place at the Westin Hotel in Long Beach, is open to the public, and it is designed to support Southern California soldiers - including several from Los Alamitos-based units – with a glamorous night of dining, dancing and entertainment.

Hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (GLAC AUSA), a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to supporting the U.S. Army, the ball brings together members of the military and their families with celebrity supporters.

“Southern California has the single largest population of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the United States,” said Felicia Campbell, vice president, programs, for GLAC AUSA. “However, most of the thousands who have deployed out of here are ‘Citizen Soldiers’ – our California National Guard and Army Reserve – who have no active duty base to help support them or their families, making their return all the more challenging.”
