Thursday Surf Report

Surf picks up a bit!

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing an increase in the action.  Now...it's definitely not pumping, but we're seeing some fun rideable waves along this stretch of sand.

The only bummer...there's already some southerly wind early on it which means many spots are seeing some texture or light bump on the water.  Let's keep our fingers crossed that it backs down instead of picking up throughout the morning.

As far as the waves go...we have some more south swell along with some very little west northwest windswell in the water.  That recipe is providing this neck of the woods with some fast drained out lines early on due to the early morning negative low tide.  The shape should improve once the tide fills-in a bit.

Most Seal Beach spots are running about knee to waist high, with the south facing focal points pulling a few occasional belly high sets.  At 4:51 early this morning the tide dropped to a negative 1.3 low which will have many spots desperate for water early to mid-morning.   The tide then climbs up to a 3.8 high at 11:20 later this morning and then drops again to a 2.0 low at 4:03 this afternoon.

If you're going to get out there and grab a salt water bath...throw on no more than a 3/2 fullsuit for at least that a.m session, with the water temperature averaging between 61 and 64 degrees.  Have fun out there!!
