Thursday Surf Report

Surf picks up, but watch for those conditions.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch surf report.  Well, the good news: The surf has picked up a bit, but it looks like one of those days where the conditions could worsen at anytime due to the next storm.

It's starting out nice and clean.  As far as the waves go--we're seeing some new west northwest swell filling-in and some decent south southwesterly energy beginning to show.

That recipe is offering some fast sectiony lines, with some fun pick and choose corners.  Most spots in Seal Beach are running about knee to waist high, with the focal points pulling some stomach high sets.

At 8:11 this morning the tide drains out to a negative o.1 low which will be mean that many spots are lacking water mid-morning.  The tide then climbs back up to a 3.1 high at 2:48 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session before the next storm, throw on no less than a 3/2 full-suit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI: The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
