"The No. 1 goal of the league is for kids to have fun playing the great game of flag football. And that’s the environment we create,” said Mark Broersma, league commissioner, in a phone call with Patch. "It’s just a real fun environment (and) atmosphere, both for the parents and the kids."

Twenty-eight different teams will kickoff on 14 different fields at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and every 50 minutes a new game begins, Broersma said.

Broersma said there's a "real carnival atmosphere," and they'll have food trucks there, too.

Friday Night Lights Youth Flag Football is the largest Youth Flag Football league in the Western United States, according to organizers. The league was started in 2006 by Broersma and Chris Ketcham, and the league now has over 12,000 players participating in 7 different leagues throughout Southern California.
