Pirates Draft Former Griffin From Seal Beach

Shortstop Kirk Singer was drafted in the 29th round by Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted former Los Alamitos High School Griffin Kirk Singer this week in the 29th round of Major League Baseball draft.

Singer, who plays shortstop for California State University Long Beach was drafted 872nd overall. The Seal Beach native hit .315 in 2010 and was second on the team with five homeruns and had seven multiple RBI games.

Singer lettered all four years at Los Alamitos High School and was named all-Sunset league in 2007. In 2008, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 40th round.
