Match Between Seal Beach PONY League Coaches Draws Crowd

The Most Interesting Team in the World takes home the trophy.

This time, the coaches - not the kids - played ball.

Seal Beach PONY League coaches squared off at the Second Annual Coaches Classic last weekend.

Four teams of coaches from the three Seal Beach PONY baseball divisions - Shetland, Pinto and Mustang - duked it out on the diamond at McGaugh Elementary School.

Coach Scott Ellison launched the event last year, hoping to raise money for the league.

In a written statement, Coach Matthew Pixa said, "More than anything, it brings together families for a great day of ball, sun and fun. ... It was once again an epic day for Seal Beach and we all look forward to next years Coach's Classic!”

Last year’s champion, The Bad News Dads, handed over the cup to the 2013 victors, The Most Interesting Team in the World, led by Coach Chris Wyler.

The event included a kids dance party and a taco cart. Doug Garland served as the emcee, giving commentary at the game.
