The U.S. men's national water polo team defeated Argentina, 14-8, Saturday at Northwood High School in Irvine in its final exhibition game before beginning the UANA World Aquatics Championship Qualification Tournament Wednesday in Calgary, Alberta.
Seal Beach Native Scott Davidson and Ryan Bailey, of Long Beach, both scored to help propel the team to victory.
Defender Jesse Smith -- one of the four players on the U.S. team that also played on the team that finished eighth at the London Olympics -- scored three goals.
Fellow 2012 Olympian Jeff Powers scored twice, as did Greg Enloe and Nikola Vavic of Rancho Palos Verdes.
Goalkeeper Andy Stevens, a Villa Park resident, made nine saves.
The U.S. led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, 8-4 at halftime and 10-6 after three quarters.
