Football: OC Top 10 and Patch's Vote After Week 10

Three South Coast League teams are in the top seven

Martin Henderson of Patch.com votes in the weekly Orange County Top 10 Football Poll in cooperation with the Orange County Register.

Below is Henderson's vote following Week 10—which is actually the 11th weekend of the prep football season—and below that is the final regular season OC Top 10 based on the votes of 10 media members; each first-place vote among the 10 voters is worth 10 points, each second-place vote is worth 9 points, etc.

This week begins the first round of the Southern Section playoffs.

1. Mission Viejo (10-0, 100 points)

Diablos dominated El Toro, 49-7, to win the South Coast League and leave no doubt as to who is No. 1. Next: vs. Westlake at Mission Viejo High, Friday. 

2. Mater Dei (8-2, 90)

Monarchs ended three-game losing streak to arch-rival Servite with a 36-20 victory at Angel Stadium and finished second in the Trinity League. Next: vs. Lakewood at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday.

3. Edison (9-1, 79)

Chargers bolted to 34-0 victory over Huntington Beach to finish 5-0 in the Sunset League and get No. 1 seed in Southwest Division. Next: vs. Esperanza at Orange Coast College, Friday. 

4. El Toro (9-1, 66)

Chargers' 49-7 loss to Mission Viejo was a difficult way to end the regular season and finish second in South Coast League. Next: vs. Santa Margarita at Trabuco Hills High, Friday. 

5. Santa Margarita (8-2, 64)

Eagles simply outplayed by a superior team in 42-15 loss to St. John Bosco of Bellflower, and finished third in Trinity League. Next: vs. El Toro at Trabuco Hills High, Friday.

6. Tustin (10-0, 54)

Tillers concluded regular season with 48-0 victory over Kennedy, won Empire League title and are seeded No. 2 in Southwest Division. Next: vs. El Dorado at Tustin High, Friday. 

7. Villa Park (9-1, 33)

Spartans finished 6-0 run in Century League with 44-34 victory over Esperanza, and have won seven in a row since nonleague loss to Edison. Next: vs. Yorba Linda at El Modena High, Friday. 

8. Tesoro (7-3, 28)

Tumultuous week ends with 56-17 nonleague victory at Chula Vista and receiving at-large berth in Pac-5 playoffs. Next: vs. St. John Bosco at St. John Bosco, Friday. 

9. Foothill (8-2, 18)

Knights, 49-0 winners over Canyon, awarded No. 4 seed in Southwest Division after finishing second in Century League. Next: defeated Laguna Hills, 17-7. 

10. JSerra (6-4, 9)

With little chance at a playoff berth, Lions roared in a 41-6 victory over Orange Lutheran for only Trinity League victory. This week: season is over.
