Droves of young flag football players will compete at Oak Middle School in Los Alamitos today for what's being touted as "the largest one-night, one-location youth football event in the U.S."
It's the opening night of the fall season playoffs for the Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Fight Night Lights Youth Flag Football League.
The first 14 games start at 4 p.m., and 1,452 players—representing 182 teams—in first through eighth grades will compete Friday. The last games—14 of 132 for the day—begin at 9:30 p.m. By 10:30 p.m., 134 teams will have been eliminated.
Friday Night Lights Youth Flag Football has 11,000 players participating in seven different leagues throughout Southern California.
Gotta say, though, I don't remember any wee ones with either of the first two qualities. I do remember a kid whose father was a merchant selling things other than pot(s and pans) but he wasn't getting any (thing) more than nickels dimes and quarters, AFIK.
