Ironman World Champ Dominates 2012 Seal Beach Triathlon

Hundreds take to the water in Seal Beach for the inaugural Seal Beach Triathlon.

A light rain fell on more than 350 triathletes as they took to the water to begin the 2012 Seal Beach Triathlon on Saturday morning.

Australian native, Chris “Macca” McCormack, a two-time Ironman World Championship winner, never trailed while completing the inaugural event with a winning time of 47:16.

Organizers of the first Seal Beach triathlon in 25 years were ecstatic with the turn out and plan to consider street closures to accommodate the large number of entrants and onlookers for next year’s event.

I saw quite a few locals in your picture slide show. We walked down to view the runners from the pier and then down to the 1st St. lot to watch some finishers. It sure looked like a well-run, well-organized event!!! I know it was fun to watch the enthusiasm of the people who were in it!

I had a chance to talk with Chris “Macca” McCormack (Ironman Rock Star!). He shares his passion for the sport. I'll try to upload the video here but you can also see it at www.My-Tri.com or http://youtu.be/l4zEIy2F6EE
