Can you feel it in the air? Summer's here!

Just a view of our town as Summer nears and life moves forward. Remember to be kind to each other and all of our visitors. We can all enjoy the beach, our shops and community.

For those of you who may not realize it, Mother's Day really marks a shift on Main Street Seal Beach, the unofficial start of the summer season.  Over the last few days, I have seen an increase of activity and a sense that the visitors are coming.  We as residents seem to have a strange "love-hate" relationship with them.  Those of us that own businesses in town are always glad to see more traffic and opening wallets.  Many residents dislike the noise and bustle which inevitably comes.

It almost feels as if we are taking a breath after the Car Show, Run Seal Beach and all the community engagement of April, in order to brace ourselves for the Memorial Day weekend, which I think to many is truly the "official start" of summer.

The berm is down and the City Council has moved to its summer uniform of Hawaiian shirts.  We can look forward to the Lions Fish Fry July 19th - 20th, the Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series every Wednesday night from July 10th to August 28th and lots of visitors at our beaches.

For all of us, let's remember to try to stay at least ranked as the 4th Friendliest Town, by being kind to visitors, warm & friendly to each other.  Though many of us might disagree about the details of how to make our town better, I have yet to know any resident who didn't just love Seal Beach.

Yes, parking is going to be tough, so remember to just breathe and obey parking signs. Also, I am wondering what will end up going at the end of the pier.  What about you?  I have visions of brining back the roller coaster, a ferris wheel and maybe even a fabulous dining venue serviced by a period tram...but hey, I dream big for our little beach town.
