was named among the nation’s top 4 percent of schools this week by U.S. News & World Report
The magazine’s perennial rankings of top schools in the nation ranked Los Alamitos 167th in California out of 2,409 schools in the state and 849th out of 22,000 high schools evaluated nationwide.
The school was ranked high based on the number of students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes (38 percent of the student body) and strong scores on the Academic Performance Index - 884. The ranking does reflect a slight drop from previous years such as 2007 when the school was ranked among the top 2 percent of schools.
Notably, the topped rank school in California is just a few miles away. Oxford Academy in Cypress was ranked number one in the state and number seven in the nation.
