Photos: Halloween Parade at Los Alamitos Elementary

Hundreds of kids, teachers and even a few parents don costumes for the spooky event.

A horde of rampaging monsters, powerful superheroes and even a walking toaster invaded the blacktop on this foggy Halloween morning.

Los Alamitos Elementary School held its annual Halloween parade just before class, with students dressed as everything from an aquarium to a nerd to a very large bumblebee.

“The Halloween Parade is a real big deal at our school,” said Los Alamitos Principal Sunghie Okino, who dressed as the dancing hamster from the Kia commercials.

“I love dressing up, but every year I keep my costume top secret," said Okino, who during past parades has been cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants, a minion from the movie Despicable Me and Karl the elderly hero of the Pixar movie Up. "They never know what I am going to be.”
