According to Los Al Team manager Rich Castellanos it should be an exciting game.

“Being the underdog has given the kids the 'have-nothing-to-lose effect,'” Castellanos said. “We have a good chance of winning.”

In recent League finals, Los Al lost to JSerra by one, leaving them with a final score of 2-3.

According to Castellanos, the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey league has 17 teams divided into tiers -- there are five teams in Tier 3 Los Al’s tier, and the league expects more teams to join before the next season begins in September.

The Los Al club is made up of players from Los Alamitos High School and Cypress, Long Beach, Cerritos, Newport Beach, Coto de Caza and Riverside.

Los Al normally plays at Anaheim Ice.

“It was a lot for the players and coaching staff to accomplish during their inaugural season and (they) could not do it without the team's commitment and school support,” said Castellanos in an email. “We should all be very proud, and the team is already building for next season.”
