Should it ever sleet, snow, hail or maybe just rain in Los Alamitos, athletes at the high school won’t be deterred.
The Los Alamitos Unified School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the all-weather track and field project at Los Alamitos High School Tuesday.
The track project will include an all-weather track, a synthetic turf playing field, bleachers and new sports lighting.
Organizers will hold the ceremony Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. at the current track and field location at 3951 Cerritos Avenue.
All community members are invited to attend
According to Kropp, the school board and district staff have been working on the project for about eight years.
“It’ll be a nice complex,” Kropp said. “It took a lot of effort.”
Also at the groundbreaking ceremony, Kropp said education officials will showcase the recently renovated gym and tennis courts.
According to Kropp, the project cost about $4 million and local donors helped pay for part of the project. The Track Booster Club donated about $80,000, and Our Los Al donated $200,000.
Kropp said they hope to finish the work within eight months.
