It's National Teacher Day: Who Was Your Favorite Teacher?

Show your appreciation for your educators on Patch.

They take our sass, they teach our class and sometimes they change our lives. 

Tuesday marks National Teacher Day, which is sponsored by the National Education Association to encourage people to recognize and thank their favorite teachers, past and present

And we at Patch want to know who was your favorite teacher.

It can be a a teacher who shaped your future, who taught you to understand a difficult subject or helped you have fun and learn at the same time. 

Nonprofit organization Kars4Kids recently surveyed 1,000 American adults to measure how teachers impacted adults and ways adults have expressed their appreciation. The survey found the following:

  • 80 percent of adults recognize that their work ethic, time spent as a volunteer, and career choice was a direct result of teachers who inspired them in the classroom.
  • 78 percent of U.S. adults had an out-of-classroom experience with their teacher enhancing their learning.
  • 61 percent believe that teachers taught them skills outside of the standard curriculum.
  • Nearly three quarters of adults said they would want their children to have the same teachers they did.
