Somehow it seems ironic for the Los Al school district to hand out Heroes of the Heart awards. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to work with them know they are the real Heroes of the Heart. The expertise, knowledge, experience and caring is unmatched and we are very fortunate to have them working for us. We at the Los Alamitos Education Foundation are honored to work along side some of the best in the business right here in our small little community. We are also grateful for the opportunity to provide both after school and summer school programs for our students. We know our students do better in all areas when they are involved in extra curricular activities. In addition, LAEF provides funds for targeted teachers throughout all of the schools. For those who aren't aware, those credentialed teachers provide specific training and support for our students daily. Through their efforts, coordinated by our district staff, LAUSD is able to research new teaching programs and implement them where appropriate in smaller groups where learning is enhanced. It helps to have a tremendous group of volunteers dedicated to the continued success of the district. We at LAEF are very proud to be partners with LAUSD.
