The 2011-2012 Highlights of Los Al Schools – Continued

Learn more about what our great schools did in 2011/2012

L.A.E. – Los Al Elementary “The Place to Be”, and it most certainly lived up to its slogan in 2011 & 2012. 

Won the “JiJi 15 years of Celebration” award. LAE rallied the community to “Like” on FACEBOOK JiJi of the MIND institute and win an Ice Cream Party and a visit from Dr. Matthew Peterson this fall.

With donations from their Friends and PTA groups, LAE was about to build and equip a Broadcast Studio.  This was in partnership with Bob Ostmann and Laurel High School students.  Watch for great stuff to come out of this studio.

The first year of the Ambassador Program at LAE was a big success engaging 60 students to commit to service projects such as Katella Manor and Precious Life Shelter.

J.H. McGaugh, our elementary school site in Seal Beach has a rich history and this past year had some great accomplishments.

McGaugh received a $20,000 grant and was able to purchase and implement MIND – math K-5 program.

McGaugh and its staff elected to have a school wide focus on “Reader’s Workshop” program.

McGaugh purchased twenty-four netbooks for use in 4th and 5th grade classrooms and expanded its computer lab for K-3.
