The Seal Beach Mayor Pro Tem has a little money coming.
In fact, according to the State Controller's Office, a lot of us do.
Remember that rebate you filled out a few years ago but never claimed? Or maybe someone left you some money, only you never found out?
Whether it's a closed bank account, stocks and bonds or your great uncle's collection of bowties, this website — run by the Unclaimed Property Division of the State Controller's Office — makes it as easy to reclaim lost property as typing in your name.
For example, Seal Beach Mayor Pro Tem Ellery Deaton can pick up from the state the $2.58 refund she's owed by General Electric. She also has an unclaimed credit balance with GE of 87 cents.
District Attorney Tony Rackauckas is owed $273.89 for an unclaimed checking account, and someone with the same name is owed $1,600 in the form of an unclaimed cashier's check.
CHECK THE WEBSITE TO SEE IF YOU'RE OWED MONEY OR PROPERTY. If you are, TELL US IN THE COMMENTS BELOW.
