Want to Know What Seal Beach's Park System Needs? Find Out Monday

A consulting firm will present its research on what citizens want for their Seal Beach recreation areas.

Seal Beach officials hope to get a glimpse at what people want from their city park system Monday.

A consulting firm will present the results of its research into public opinion on the city’s recreation areas. Since November, the firm, Richard Fisher Associates, has conducted surveys, held meetings and examined current recreation facilities.

After hearing the findings, the City Council aims to create a Seal Beach’s Parks and Community Services Master plan in May, a map of future projects that would shape the city’s policy on park and program development for years.

Speaking of greenery, that same night the City Council will also vote on who will trim the trees in Seal Beach for next three years.

The city owns and maintains about 7,000 trees, and staff recommends the council award the $398,040 contract to Great Scott Tree Service Inc.

The tree-trimming item is on the consent calendar, which means it will be approved without discussion unless a member of the public, staff or city council pulls it for discussion.

Also at the meeting, officials will meet and recognize the winners of the Miss Seal Beach Pageant.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at 211 Eight Street.
