Want to be a Grand Juror?

Orange County's watchdog agency is looking for new members. Deadline is Friday.

The Orange County Grand Jury, which serves as a government watchdog and issues criminal indictments, is seeking applications for its 2012-13 term.

The deadline is Friday at 4 p.m.

The terms begin July 2 and wrap up at the end of June 2013. Jurors are paid $50 a day, up to $250 a week, to perform the full-time duties.

The official duties:

  • act as the public’s watchdog by investigating and reporting upon the affairs of local government
  • weigh criminal charges and determine whether indictments should be returned
  • weigh allegations of misconduct against public officials and determine whether to present formal accusations requesting their removal from office
  • review and act upon letters or complaints from citizens of Orange County.
