Soldiers Come Home to Los Al Tonight after Deployment in Afghanistan

In country, their focus was maintaining roadways in and around the Ghazni Province, searching for improvised explosive devices.

Nearly 100 soldiers belonging to a Long Beach-based California National Guard unit will return to Southern California today after a 9-month deployment in Afghanistan.

The members of the 216th Mobility Augmentation Command will fly into the Joint Forces Training Base at Los Alamitos in Orange County around 8 p.m., according to a statement from the base.

"During the unit's time in Afghanistan, their focus was maintaining roadways in and around the Ghazni Province, searching for improvised explosive devices," it said.
