Seal Beach Set to Vote on New Main Street Lights

Plan would remove old light poles from Pacific Coast Highway to Ocean Avenue and replace them with 40 new poles.

Main Street might get a little brighter, depending on what happens at Monday's City Council meeting.

Officials are schedule to vote on "The Main Street Lighting Project" which would replace all existing Southern California Edison owned light poles on Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Ocean Avenue and install 40 new light poles.

City staff recommends the council approve the project and award the $454,983 project contract to the Flatiron Electric Group.

Staff also asks the Council to allow the City Manager to have the ability to approve contract changes up to no more than $46,000, and also set aside $68,000 for inspection and materials testing.

The item is scheduled to be approved without discussion unless a councilmember, staff member or member of the public asks to pull it.
