Obama Designates the Lt. Kenneth M. Ballard Memorial Post Office

The United States Post Office on Hope Street now officially renamed after fallen soldier.

With the stroke of a pen a local soldier has been memorialized.

On Thursday President Barack Obama signed into law H.R. 6260, which designates the facility of the United States Postal Service at 211 Hope St. as the Lieutenant Kenneth M. Ballard Memorial Post Office, according to The White House Press Secretary.

Mountain View Patch spoke to Ballard's mother Karen Meredith after the bill passed the Senate and she expressed happiness that her son's legacy would live on. She added that information for the dedication would be forthcoming after coordination with Rep. Anna Eshoo's office.

Included among the 21 bills signed into law was the designation of a post office in Roseville, CA for another deceased soldier, Lance Corporal Victor A. Dew.
