Mobile Military Job Fair Rolling to JFTB

The Los Alamitos event is open to guardsmen, reservists and veterans, as well as active-duty soldiers and their spouses and dependent children.

It's a specialized vehicle designed to help troops fight one of the hardest battles outside of combat -- getting a job in a tough economy.

The Hero 2 Hired Mobile Job Store Truck will set up camp at the Joint Forces Training Base this Thursday and Friday.

Its mission? To find work for guardsmen and women, reservists, veterans and active duty soldiers and their spouses and dependent children.

A mix between a live job fair and an employment seminar, the free event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 24.

According to an announcement from a military spokeswoman, the event is specifically designed to connect attendees "with military-friendly civilian employers that have made a stated commitment to hire veterans."

The event will feature a number of services for current and retired members of the armed forces including a live and virtual career fair, job listings, résumé building lessons, a mobile app and a Facebook application.

Patrick Kuykendall, chief of staff for the California Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve which is co-sponsoring the program, says that "just about anybody that has anything to do with the uniform" can show up and be helped.

The two-day event is also sponsored by the national ESGR, the Orange County One-Stop and the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce.
