Major 405 Closure Kicks Off Tonight

A series of significant freeway closures begin tonight into Saturday morning with the complete closure of the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway between Seal Beach Boulevard and the San Gabriel (605) Freeway, connecting Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Expect complete freeway closures every night for weeks to come.

On Saturday night, all northbound lanes will close from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The complete closure of northbound lanes will continue every night for several weeks. On Saturdays and Sundays, the northbound lanes will close from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays. Once the work on the northbound side of the freeway is completed, the work and the closures will transfer to the southbound side of the freeway.

The West County Connector Project is the 3 and a half-year aimed at creating seamless carpool-lane transitions between the Garden Grove (22), 405 and the 605 freeways, along with additional carpool lanes on the 405.

OCTA suggested detours are:

• From the northbound I-405, exit Seal Beach Blvd., turn right and proceed north on Seal Beach Blvd. / Los Alamitos Blvd., turn left on Katella to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp
• From the northbound I-405, exit Seal Beach Blvd., turn left and proceed south on Seal Beach Blvd., turn right on Westminster Avenue, turn right on Studebaker Rd. to access the northbound I-405 on-ramp
• From the northbound I-405, exit Westminster Ave., turn left on Westminster Ave and proceed west, turn right on Studebaker Rd. to access the northbound   I-405 on-ramp
• From the northbound I-405, exit Westminster Ave., turn left on Westminster Ave. and proceed west, turn right on Seal Beach Blvd., continue north on Seal Beach Blvd. / Los Alamitos Blvd., turn left on Katella to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp
