Los Al, Seal Beach Populations Grow by .5 Percent

Overall, Orange County and California saw increases last year, as well.

If you notice a few extra faces around town, you're not alone.

Los Alamitos and Seal Beach population grew by .5 percent last year, new government figures show.

According to statistics released by the state Department of Finance, Los Alamitos gained 61 people, increasing the city's population to 11,626 as of Jan 1. Seal Beach grew by 116, raising the city’s population to 24,487 as of Jan. 1.

Overall Orange County saw a .8 percent rise, gaining 23,925 people in 2012.

As of Jan. 1 the county’s overall population was 3,081,804.

The population of all unlisted Orange County areas — including unincorporated communities like Rossmoor — rose by .5 percent, from 119,779 to 120,396.

Numbers show Irvine is the fastest growing city in Orange County and the 7th fastest growing in the state.  

The top three largest cities are 1) Los Angeles 2) San Diego and 3) San Jose. Long Beach is the 7th largest and Anaheim was No. 10, the only Orange County city on the top 10 list. 

California's population increased by 0.8 percent to 37,966,471.
