Los Al Football Coach To Be Honored For 300th Win

Also on the City Council agenda? A vote on whether to install a bus shelter on Katella Avenue between Lexington Drive and Saratoga Drive.

John Barnes, head coach of the Los Alamitos High School football team, will be honored for his 300th win by the City Council.

Here’s a run down of what else is going on at the Monday meeting: 

--Officials will vote whether to apply for a $318,000 Orange County Transportation Authority grant to help with four street rehabilitation projects:

  • Cerritos Avenue from Bloomfield Street to Los Vaqueros Circle
  • Los Vaqueros Circle from south of Cerritos Avenue to the end of the street
  • Humbolt Street from south of Cerritos Avenue to the end of street.
  • Reagan Street from Catalina Street to Sausalito Street.

The entire project cost is estimated at about $636,000 and the grant, if approved, would fund for half of that. 

-- A bus shelter on Katella Avenue between Lexington Drive and Saratoga could arrive in Los Al depending on a council vote.

-- Officials will receive an update on the West County Connector project from OCTA representatives and an update on the city's business and residential improvement program after six-months in progress. 

--Councilmembers are also set to vote whether to appoint the interim finance director, Linda Magnuson, as city treasurer.
