Run Seal Beach Honors Fastest Hometown Runners

Event organizers recognize the quickest Seal Beach locals. Also, check out which Rossmoor and Los Alamitos residents placed best.

At Monday's city council meeting, organizers for the 39th Annual Run Seal Beach announced their top male and female Seal Beach runners in the event's 10k Run and 5k Run.

In addition to receiving recognition at Seal Beach City Hall, the four fastest runners were added to a plaque outside the Seal Beach recreation office.

Fun facts from the latest race, courtesy Run Seal Beach

  • More than 5,200 participated in the 5k Run, 10k Run and 5k walk and more than 420 kids ran in the kid’s fun run.
  • About 811 joined the 5k walk, 1991 joined the 5k Run and 1,692 joined the 10K Run.
  • About 25 states and two other countries were represented.
  • Twenty-six percent of the runners came from Seal Beach, Rossmoor and Los Alamitos and 28 percent came from Long beach and Huntington Beach.

Over the last ten years, the event has raised $825,000 for local organizations.

While event organizers haven't announced the total amount raised at the last run yet, they have said they're hoping to hit the $1-million milestone.
