Update: Gov. Jerry Brown to Visit Los Alamitos Saturday

The governor is expected at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base for the California Cadet Corps Centennial Celebration.

Governor Jerry Brown will be in Los Alamitos Saturday afternoon for the California Cadet Corps Centennial Celebration and drill competition at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.

Hundreds of cadets and their families will also be there for the drill competition, a display of training, with cadets marching and following orders in formation.

At 1:30 p.m., the cadets will march before Brown in what is known as a Pass and Review, where soldiers conduct drills and demonstrate their training to commanders. Following the Pass and Review, the governor will make some brief remarks.

Amid budget negotiations and stalemates, Brown has been holding events in Republican districts to discuss his plans to balance the budget, including a tax ballot measure.

Los Alamitos is a Republican District Represented by State Senator Tom Harman. A member of multiple budget committees, Harman is a key player in the ongoing budget talks.

Saturday’s visit is open to the public. Visitors are required to show a valid driver’s license to gain entry to the base.

The base is at 4522 Saratoga Avenue, Los Alamitos.
