Four Candidates Qualify for Los Alamitos City Council Race

The four-way contest for two council seats is well underway.

Let the race begin.

All four contenders who filed papers to run for the two Los Alamitos City Council seats have qualified, according to the city clerk's office.

The qualified candidates battling in the Nov. 6 local election are (in alphabetical order) Demi Devaney, Dean Grose, Richard Murphy and incumbent Ken Stephens.

Devaney was the final candidate to qualify and made the grade Wednesday. 

Mayor Pro Tem Marilynn Poe, whose term ends in November, did not file papers to run for reelection.

In Seal Beach, two City Council incumbents are running uncontested. 

The only people to pull and file papers and qualify to run are incumbents David Sloan and Gary Miller for City Council and Linda Devine for city clerk.

Seal Beach council members are elected by residents in the district they serve. In Seal Beach, the seats held by Miller in the College Park East district and Sloan in College Park West and parts of Leisure World are open.
