The Seal Beach Planning Commission gave the go-ahead for the family restaurant Glory Days to open in place Finbar’s as early as September.

The location will be the company’s second, and it will include a 12 game video arcade, outdoor seating and live music, according to owner Richard Brown, who opened the first location in Lakewood.Wednesday night the Planning Commission approved his application to operate for extended hours.

The commission’s approval will allow Glory Days to serve alcohol, install a 12-game arcade room, host unamplified live music and keep it’s doors open until midnight on weeknights and 1 a.m. on Friday andSaturday—causing concern from local residents.

Lynda Krueger, who lives on 8th street near Marina Drive, worries about late night noise carrying keeping her up at night.

“You don’t realize until it’s 1 a.m. how much the noise really does bounce and travel,” she said.

But Brown described his restaurant as having a “truly a family-style atmosphere.”

According to Brown, Glory Days is an ideal spot for families with kids who play sports because it stays open late enough t to serve people after a late-running game.

“A lot of the times those games can go until 10:15 p.m.,” said Brown. “We get a lot of the teams—normal citizens—who by closing at 11 p.m., I believe, keeps people from coming in.”

The restaurant also plans to have two meeting rooms that can seat up to 40 people and be rented out.

“I’ve got an excellent track record,” said Brown, who supplied the board with written recommendations from long-time neighbors of his first location on Woodruff and Carson.

The commission also approved Brown’s proposal to have large open, windows as long as he closes them by 10 p.m. and during live entertainment.

The council voted 4–1 under those conditions, making planning commissioner Robert Goldberg the only one opposed.

“I share the concerns of the residents in regard to noise,” he said. “I’m not convinced that open windows are essential to the success of this business.

“It’s a restaurant, it’s not a sports bar,” countered Planning Commission Chair Massa-Lavitt.

Seal Beach residence have much higher standards than some bimbo good looking trampy girl behind a bar. We have standards and want great food good service without an attitude and a clean establishment.

If you want to see what kind of person this "Lilly McBurger" is, check out her ugly & anti-animal comments here : http://losalamitos.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/police-issue-coyote-warning Personally, I wouldn't patronize a restaurant run by such an evil, heartless person. Apparently, she doesn't know that her possible future customers can read her comments here, or maybe she doesn't care. Way to drive us away before the new Glory Days even opens!

Not sure who you are Lilly McBurger and if you think your postings are funny but you should know that the citizens of Seal Beach are very involved and take serious interest in the businesses of their city. What they should know is you are NOT an accurate representative of Glory Days and with your immature comments are not helping to pump up a new business but are putting a negative spin before it even opens. As a long time patron of Glory Days and a long time employee of Seal Beach i'm excited they are coming to our city. I hope the citizens of Seal Beach will love this new business as much as the citizens of Lakewood have loved the original location for over a decade.

Oh, and I can guarantee that this Lilly McBurger is NOT the owner of Glory Days!!

Nothing too GLORY about Glory Days
Shelly G November 18, 2013 at 09:51 AM
Okay, so on the way to Lucille's for wonderful beef ribs, we saw that Glory Days was open. We made a u turn and decided to try it out. We went in with open minds. We immediately noticed how loud it was. It was loud. We sat down, looked at the menu and ordered food. I thought $12.00 for a burger and fries was a bit much and I ordered the chicken fingers. My daughter got the patty melt. I gave my kid $10.00 to play some games. The games are very limited. The claw machine is a $1.00 a pull. A bit pricey and most of the stuffed animals are crammed in or too big for the claw. Just sayin. Well the ten bucks didn't last and back to the table we went. The service was good and the staff friendly. The food came and well, the chicken fingers were awful! The patty melt was good and the size of the burger was good as well. Oh did I mention how loud it was! The Creme Soda was very good as well and was recommended by our server. I also noticed that one or two TV's had news on. So in the middle of our meal I look over and there is a gal in a bikini pole dancing. Sorry, but I wouldn't call that "family appropriate". Needless to say, with the loudness, the prices and the lack of fun games, we most likely will not be frequenting this new place. My thoughts, more billiard games for the kids. Lower the prices on the games so the kids can actually have longer to play before the funds run out. Oh and just as Hennessy's has done, change the chips to fries with the burgers. They did it! Did I mention how loud it was?
The Beast ! November 18, 2013 at 06:44 PM
@ Shelly POLE DANCERS ? Really I was there over the weekend and never seen a pole dancer. The food is average and a bag of chips is insulting to say the least. The beer was very cold ! I didnt believe it was very loud.
Shelly G November 19, 2013 at 09:14 AM
Yes Beast, there were pole dancers on the news on one of the TV's. Can you read? Oh wait, you can't, other wise you would listen to people in this town that want you to leave and go stir up crap in your own town!
The Beast ! December 01, 2013 at 12:34 AM
Ok so the Glory Day needs to hire a chef. They charge for carrots tomatoes and mushrooms on your $6.00 salad. They hand you a bag of chips with your $9.00 burger The employees all seem confused and look like Lakewood The wines are cheap and disgusting The bar is nice except for the fact locals From Seal Beach don't hang out there. If your into ugly crowds and employes you will luv it
The Beast ! December 05, 2013 at 12:43 PM
They need a Chef, uniforms, better service and local employees. The establishment is decent
The Beast ! January 12, 2014 at 02:34 AM
I keeping trying to like this place but unfortunately the staff is horrible and inexperienced. They have NO locals working there and is certainly shows in more ways then 1
The Beast ! January 12, 2014 at 02:34 AM
