Los Alamitos Picks Familiar Face for City Manager

The City Council is poised to vote on an employment contract today to make Director of Recreation and Community Services Angie Avery the new city manager.

It didn’t take long for the Los Alamitos City Council to find a replacement for outgoing City Manager Jeff Stewart.

On Nov. 23, Stewart publicly announced his plans to leave Los Alamitos to serve as Bellflower city manager, and on Nov. 28, the City Council met in closed session and voted to offer the job to Angie Avery, the city’s current director of recreation and community services.

Tonight, the City Council will vote on a $170,000 employment contract to make it official. If approved, Avery would take the helm Jan. 3.
