Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against Alleged Seal Beach Mass Murderer

The adult children of Michelle Fournier, one of eight people murdered during a shooting rampage at a Seal Beach salon, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against accused murderer Scott Evans Dekraai, according to a report in OC Weekly.

In the lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court, Chad Huff and his sister Chelsea Huff seek unspecified monetary damages from alleged mass murderer Dekraai, who is facing murder charges for the death of his ex-wife and their mother 48-year-old Fournier, OC Weekly reported.

The Huffs are also seeking damages for emotional distress and economic losses, according to OC Weekly.

The seven other people killed at Salon Meritage in Seal Beach were the salon's co-owner, Randy Lee Fannin, 62; Victoria Ann Buzzo, 54; Lucia Bernice Kondas, 65; Laura Lee Elody, 46; Christy Lynn Wilson, 47; Michele Daschbach Fast, 47, and David Caouette, 64. Another woman who was shot -- 73-year-old Hattie Stretz -- survived.

Wrongful death lawsuits have also been filed against Dekraai by family members of the other victims.

Investigators believe DeKraai committed the murders as an act of revenge against Fournier, who worked as a hairstylist at the salon. The two were locked in a bitter custody dispute over their 8-year-old son.

Dekraai remains behind bars at the Theo Lacy Jail in Orange on a no-bail warrant.
