A SigAlert was briefly in effect today when a driver headed the wrong way on the 405 Freeway caused a two-car crash, blocking all lanes except the carpool lane and fast lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened on the southbound 405 just south of MacArthur Boulevard at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. The SigAlert has been canceled, but crews are still working to clear the scene.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but authorities are unable to release details about the number of people injured. No one has been arrested at this point, said a CHP dispatcher.
The reports of a gray Mercedes SUV heading the wrong way on the freeway near Jamboree Road first came in at 11:55 a.m.
