Watch: Alleged Rossmoor Burglars Make Getaway

Investigators released surveillance footage of suspected burglars who escaped after a homeowner walked in on them.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department released video surveillance footage Monday of two suspected burglars and their getaway driver in Rossmoor.

Sheriff’s officials hope to enlist the community’s help in catching the burglars who have been breaking into Rossmoor homes or entering through unlocked doors and windows.

The video was recorded Aug. 17 when a Rossmoor resident on Rowena Drive left her home for a quick errand and returned to find two men inside her house. According to sheriff’s officials, the would-be thieves took off running to their waiting get-away vehicle, a 2009 or 2010 dark cherry red Jeep Unlimited Rubicon 4-door, with a black hard top cover.

A neighbor’s surveillance cameras captured the getaway, providing investigators a lead in the case to go along with other pieces of evidence such as DNA collected from a beer that one of the thieves drank during a burglary.

Anyone with information about the incident or any of the string of Rossmoor burglaries dating back to spring is asked to call sheriff’s investigators at (714) 647-7000. The sheriff’s department is reminding people not to chase or confront the burglars. Rather, residents should be good witnesses and get a license plate number and a detailed description of the suspects along with their direction of travel for 9-11 dispatchers.
