Truck Crash Launches Skateboard at Girl

Here are five odd, interesting or important crime calls reported by the Seal Beach Police Department recently.

A blue Dodge truck ran over a skateboard Dec. 27, sending the board flying into a girl sitting nearby, authorities said Wednesday.

Paramedics were called to Heron Circle in Seal Beach at about 11:31 a.m, after police received a report of vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

Luckily the inital report was wrong -- the girl wasn't on the skateboard at the time, according to Seal Beach Police Department Sgt. Rick Ransdell.

Randsdell said the girl was sitting on a nearby planter and had placed her skateboard in the street.

When the truck rounded the planter and drove over the board, the girl suffered “minor injuries" from the impact.
