Police Blotter: Strange and Startling Week in Crime

Seal Beach police arrested a tree-climbing man with a flashlight, a man seen beating an elderly woman in a wheelchair and took a report of woman driving erratically and vomiting with children in her car.

This report comes from the most recent Seal Beach Police Department report log.

  • At 1:59 p.m. Monday the 17th, a caller reported a reckless driver near the Seal Beach and Westminster intersection. A driver in a light colored sedan was seen driving south bound in a north bound lane. 
  • At 10:00 a.m. Monday the 17th, a caller reported a drunk in public near the Central and 12th street intersection. According to the report, the man was passed out on a sidewalk near 11th and 12th street. He was having a hard time breathing.
  • At 1:10 p.m. Tuesday the 19th, a caller reported a disturbance near the Electric and Main intersection. Three men were seen shoving and yelling at each other. The dispute escalated and the men started fighting each other. The men were detained by police, and no weapons were seen.
  • At 2:09 a.m. Tuesday the 18th, a caller reported a reckless driver near the Seal Beach and Westminster intersection. A woman seen driving a blue Chevy Silverado with four little kids out of their seat belts. The woman was then seen vomiting and driving erratically. Police were unable to locate the subject.
  • At 3:45 a.m. Wednesday the 19th, police were called to conduct a welfare check on Golden Rain Road. The informants reported seen an man hitting and elderly woman in a wheelchair. The woman was heard screaming for help and was struck by the man again on the side of her head. The woman experienced lacerations to her face and the man was arrested. 
  • At 3:34 p.m. Friday the 21st, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 1881 block of Mckinney  Way. A woman reported a man had climbed into her tree and was shining a flash light. A 33-year-old-man was eventually arrested.
  • At 7:11 p.m. Friday the 21st a caller reported a suspicious person on Marina street. According the the report, a man was impersonating an officer in an authentic police uniform. Long Beach police were called were dispatched and were unable to locate the man.
  • At 4:00 a.m. Friday the 21st, a caller reported a person down near the Pacific Coast Highway and 1st street intersection. According to the report, the informant was just driving by and saw a man passed out in the grass. The man was having trouble breathing and could not be woken up. Police responded and arrested the man for being heavily intoxicated. 
  • At 5:51 a.m. Friday the 21st, a caller reported a disturbance on Seal Way. A group of minors were seen loitering on the boardwalk, yelling, and drinking alcohol. The minors had left by the time police arrived.
  • At 5:00 p.m. Sunday the 23rd, police conducted a welfare check on Main Street. A man had passed out in a bar and was not suspected of being intoxicated. Firefighter responded for additional assistance.
