Seal Beach the Site of Not One but Two Armed Robberies Tuesday Night

At this time, police do not believe the mugging and store takeover are related.

Seal Beach was the site of two armed robberies Tuesday night.

The first occurred at 8:22 p.m. at the AT&T store at 12830 Seal Beach Blvd, according to a Seal Beach Police Department press release. A lone man armed with a handgun entered the business and ordered all patrons and employees to the ground.

“The suspect then escorted the manager to the rear office area to unlock a storage area, where the suspect gathered a large amount of merchandise into a black plastic bag,” the release states.

The suspect – described as a male black, 25 years of age, 5-08, 160 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, a tan baseball cap, and sunglasses – then fled on foot.

He got away with numerous iPhones and iPads, officials said.

In the second instance a little more than an hour later, two men mugged a Seal Beach man on Central Avenue between 7th and 8th streets, a second press release said.

“When the male victim informed the suspects of not having anything on him, the suspects struck the victim in the face and stole his iPhone,” the release states.

Police did not get a good description of the culprits, although they were said to have left in a dark-colored, larger American sedan, police said.

"At this time, we have no reason to believe the two incidents are related," Sgt. Phil Gonshak told Patch.
