A Seal Beach man was sentenced to five years in prison today for repeatedly stabbing his father during an argument.

Dalton Gilbert Aguirre, 23 received the five-year attempted murder sentence as part of a plea deal for the 2010 stabbing. Aguirre’s father, who has recovered from the attack, is in favor of the plea deal, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

“The defendant lived with his father in Seal Beach, and on the night of the attempted murder the defendant and his father got into an argument,” Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office previously told Patch. “The defendant had had a party at the house and a coffee table was broken.”
