UPDATED: Rossmoor Jogger Attacked, Police Search for Suspect

A woman jogging along Bostonian Drive in Rossmoor was attacked and stabbed by an unknown assailant tonight. Police are searching for the suspect.

A 28-year-old woman was being treated today for three stab wounds inflicted by a man who attacked her as she jogged in Rossmoor, authorities said.

The woman was grabbed from behind and stabbed at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday while she jogged on Bostonian Drive, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

Though hurt, the woman knocked the knife out of the assailant's hand, but he managed to knock her down and stabbed her two more times, Armormino said, adding that the victim was stabbed in the face, arm and hand, suffering non- life-threatening wounds.

Hearing the woman's screams, a resident of the upscale community rushed outside, and the assailant fled on a BMX bicycle, Amormino said. Amormino said the assailant was a thin Hispanic man in his early 20s who wore dark clothing and a baseball cap. The man made no attempt to sexually assault the victim, Amormino said, calling the attack random.
