As a precaution after Sunday's , local police have stepped up patrols near Orange County's two Sikh centers.
Police commanders in Santa Ana and Buena Park said their officers were increasing patrols near the Sikh Center of Orange County in Santa Ana and the Sikh Gurdwara in Buena Park.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles police backtracked Monday on a previous statement that they were not stepping up security at L.A.'s four temples.
"The LAPD took quick and decisive action to ensure our Sikh community was safe," LAPD Deputy Chief Mike Downing -- commanding officer of the Counter Terrorism and Special Operations Bureau -- said in a statement. "We immediately notified our patrol watch commanders and increased police patrols at and around our ... Sikh temples."
In Wisconsin, the suburban Milwaukee attack was being treated as an act of domestic terrorism, according to police there.
Attempts to reach Orange County Sikh officials for comment were unsuccessful.
