Police Sport Pink Patches for Breast Cancer Awareness

A Seal Beach Police Department employee, who survived cancer, designed special pink patches for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Seal Beach Police Department will be incorporating pink into its uniforms throughout October thanks to the help of one of its employees who is a cancer survivor.

The department's traditional personnel uniform this month includes an embroidered pink patch. According to Seal Beach police, the “Pink Patch Project” as it is known around the station is the brainchild of one of the cancer survivors who works at the police department.

The goal of the SBPD's Pink Patch Project is to raise awareness and money for cancer.

The custom patches were created by National Emblem, and were purchased and donated by the Seal Beach Police Officer’s Association.

At the end of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the patches will be removed and sold to collectors. The proceeds of the sales will go toward the Law Enforcement Cancer Support Foundation which has partnered with police for the Pink Patches Project.

Collectors interested in purchasing the patch can call Amanda Webber at 562-799-4100, extension 1123 or via email awebber@sealbeachca.gov. There are a limited number of patches available and they are being sold at $20.00 each.
